Born from one man’s unshakable will to do things his way, ProPPit stands as a tribute to The Admiral — whose independence, humor, and heart taught us that determination never grows old.
The Genesis of ProPPit
The Admiral
Those who knew my grandpa Robert know that we called him the Admiral. The nickname started with my dad – a playful nod to his time in the Navy – but over the years, it became something much deeper. Admiral wasn’t just what we called him. It was who he was.
An Admiral is someone with foresight, integrity, adaptability, and – most importantly – the kind of leader others willingly follow. And that’s exactly who he was to me.
He led me not by orders, but by quiet guidance. He taught me to always be myself – to stay confident whether I was pursuing my career or navigating the storms of life. He never told me what to do or how to steer – he just made sure I knew I could.
He showed integrity in how he loved. Even though he was technically my step-grandpa, it never once felt that way. He treated me like he had known me forever. He would look me in the eyes and say, “I’m proud of you,” and every time, it felt like he was saying it for the first time.

And like any great Admiral recognizing leadership potential… he promoted me. He started calling me his Captain. He even gave me a coin – a symbol of where I stood with him. I carry it with me everywhere I go. It’s worn now, and I like it that way. It feels like he is right there beside me – always on board.
He was adaptable… and unintentionally hilarious at times. He refused to let anything stop him – even when his body tried to. If something needed doing, he would insist on doing it himself, even if it took three hours and someone quietly following behind “just in case”.
And then there was his relationship with Amazon. Packages showed up constantly – and he’d act surprised every time, like he did not know how they got there. Half the time, it was another hat. Not different hats – just the same one, accidentally reordered over and over. And of course, he’d rub his completely bald head and say, “This hair is getting a little too long – might need a trim soon.” He said it with such confidence; you almost believed him.
No matter the challenges, he always finished his dessert. Preferably with a Woodford and Ginger Ale… or a good Old Fashion nearby.

If there’s one place his leadership shined brightest, it was in how he loved.
The way he loved Gloria, my step-grandmother, is the kind of love I want to chase in my own life. It wasn’t loud – it was loyal. Steady. Full of quiet tenderness. Every time we’d pray before dinner or go around saying what we were thankful for, I’d catch him stealing a glance at her with that little glimmer in his eye. No grand gestures – just pure, unwavering devotion.
He loved his daughters – my stepmom Kimberly and Renee – with that same steadfast devotion. He listened to them, supported them, and made sure they always knew where they stood – right at the center of his heart.
To most people, Admiral is a rank.
To me, it’s a Legacy.
He steered our family with strength, humor, and tenderness. He believed in me enough to make me his Captain. And now – I will carry his lessons forward. With confidence. With integrity. With dessert always finished. And probably wearing one of his hats when I really need backup.
